Job Description
About the Role:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-driven Logistics & Freight Coordinator to manage and oversee the international and domestic movement of materials via land, air, and sea. This key position involves coordinating with suppliers and carriers, ensuring timely and cost-efficient shipping, and supporting internal teams with logistics planning and documentation.
Key Responsibilities:
Request and evaluate freight quotes from land, air, and sea carriers for material shipments.
Review and approve freight charges for land, air, and sea transportation.
Analyze inventory held at freight forwarders and develop load plans for efficient material movement.
Participate in supplier meetings to discuss rates and/or service contract adjustments.
Coordinate and schedule the shipment of materials through appropriate carriers.
Review customs clearance documentation and lifting requests to ensure compliance.
Visit clients and/or suppliers to supervise material deliveries.
Request documentation from suppliers for the shipment of hazardous materials.
Complete all necessary documentation to ensure the proper movement of shipments.
Provide training and guidance to the sales team on optimal shipping alternatives and logistics procedures.
Monitor and follow up with suppliers and carriers on the status of material shipments.
Communicate selected shipping instructions to carriers and suppliers to ensure proper handling.
Review and follow up on export customer orders.
Create bi-annual sales reports for export customers.
Notify relevant internal teams of materials in transit.
Generate shipping labels for outgoing materials.
Document the condition of received materials and report findings to the appropriate team.
Qualifications & Skills:
Strong knowledge of international logistics and shipping documentation
Experience working with freight forwarders and customs processes
Ability to manage multiple shipments across different modes of transport
Excellent communication and negotiation skills for supplier and carrier interactions
Highly organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-up capabilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
