The Disneyland Resort Show Writer collaborates with Disney Live Entertainment team members to ideate, develop and write original material for on-and off-property shows and events, large and small, including but not limited to theatrical scripts, pitch documents, treatments, show flows, speeches, concepts, park announcements, and marketing copy. 

This role is a Seasonal or Casual Temporary role, and weekly working hours will fluctuate based on business need. This role reports to the Manager Creative Development Resources and Creative Director.

You Will:

  • Write/script/edit high-impact, consistent, creative materials that present new and unique entertainment experiences for the Disney Guest while upholding Disney brand standards.
  • Partner with creative and production teams in development of project concepts, scheduling and scope.
  • Accountable for fully researching and developing ideas to ensure the quality and consistency of the written material, as well as for meeting given timelines in providing requested material. 

Basic Qualifications :

  • 5+ years professional experience in writing material for entertainment-related fields, including but not limited to live stage production, film, and/or TV.
  • Prior Disney experience and/or knowledge of the Disney brand preferred
  • Proven strong communication and storytelling skills
  • Proven resourcefulness and experience with project-based research
  • Demonstrated strong grammatical knowledge and editing skills 
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people and to give voice to projects that reflect Disney’s culture of Relevancy and Inclusivity
  • Demonstrated ability to interface with all levels of management and to incorporate notes and feedback from executive leadership and other stakeholders
  • Demonstrated willingness to rewrite and rethink entire concepts based on shifting priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and prioritize 
  • Willingness to work holidays, nights and weekends 
  • Demonstrated strong computer and word processing skills, including MS Office programs 
  • Willingness to learn and navigate in new software applications 

Required Education

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Theatre, Fine Arts, Creative Writing, Literature, Film/TV, or related field of study 

Preferred Education

  • Master's degree and/or education in theatre-related field or equivalent

The hiring range for this position is Anaheim, CA is $45.26-$60.71 per hour. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
