Job Description

We currently have an opportunity for a Junior-Intermediate Information Developer with a passion for technical writing to join our Integrated Logistics Support team. In this role, you will be responsible for researching, creating, and maintaining high-quality user documentation and technical content for our products and services. You will have the opportunity to:

• Develop comprehensive and accurate technical publications (e.g. user guides, operation and maintenance manuals, online help, etc.) for technical products in accordance with the design and requirements.
• Write, edit and proofread technical documents
• Review and validate technical publications to ensure accuracy, completeness, and relevance of content
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g. product management, engineering, customer support, etc.) and the customer
• Review requirements in various requirements tools and turn into actional tasks
• Other tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, Technical/Professional Writing, or related field (or equivalent with associated experience)
• 2+ years of experience as a Technical Writer/Information Developer or related role (e.g., instructional designer, content strategist)
• Ability to synthesize complex technical data into concise end user publications
• Ability to meet deadlines and deliver high quality publications
• Strong understanding of technical writing principles and best practices
• Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
• Ability to effectively use requirement management tools (e.g. DOORs) to synthesize program requirements into actionable tasks
• Ability to work effectively as a member of a cross-functional team

Ideally you will also have some experience in the following:

• Familiarity with documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, Arbortext Editor, Adobe FrameMaker, or similar
• Experience with content management systems (CMS) and version control systems (e.g., GitLab)
• Knowledge of XML, XSL, or other markup languages

It is a requirement that General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada be registered with the Canadian Controlled Goods program and that all of its workforce be security assessed. Successful applicants must meet all applicable security requirements, including but not limited to the ability to obtain and maintain a Canadian government security clearance. You must be eligible to work in Canada.
