Description

Today, United has over 28,000 active flight attendants. We are the largest airline in the world with the most expansive network, and we are growing faster than ever. Flight attendant jobs are highly desired because they offer a unique opportunity to see the world while working. No special schooling or college degree is required; you will be fully trained by United.

Starting hourly flight pay: $28.88/hour with top of scale at $67.11/hour. Pay increases based on seniority and additional compensation for language skills, lead positions, and international trips.

Training: 6.5 weeks of training in Houston, TX, covering United safety and customer service standards. Successful completion leads to full-time employment and assignment to one of our hubs (Chicago, Denver, Houston, Los Angeles, Newark, San Francisco, Washington Dulles, or other locations; relocation funds not provided). During training, a $140/week per diem, accommodations, breakfast, and lunch are provided.

Qualifications

  • 21+ years old at application
  • High school diploma or GED; 2+ years college preferred
  • At least 1 year of customer service experience in retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, or social services
  • Clear, loud communication skills for emergencies
  • Fluent in English; second language highly desirable (e.g., Arabic, Chinese, Dutch, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Tagalog)
  • Ability to hear all sound ranges
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations effectively
  • Professional appearance and grooming; adherence to uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines (visible tattoos on arms, wrists, legs, feet are permitted if covered or within size limits; tattoos on head, neck, hands are not permitted)
  • Proficiency with electronic devices
  • Valid passport with at least 18 months validity remaining, in good condition, with visas if applicable
  • Ability to travel globally without restrictions
  • Ability to stand, walk, kneel, bend, reach, lift heavy objects (up to 250 lbs), and push/pull carts
  • Pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical, 43.5-inch horizontal)
  • Ability to sit in an aircraft jump seat with safety harness
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays

During onboarding and training, candidates must complete evacuation drills, pass drug and background checks, and meet medical standards. A clean background and no recent DWI/DUI are required, especially for travel to Canada.

Benefits & Compensation: Competitive pay starting at $28.88/hour, profit sharing, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), vacation, sick leave, flight privileges, inclusive uniform standards, safety and cleanliness commitment, and a $1,000 bonus upon successful training completion.
