Job Description

The audio engineer position functions under the supervision of and in coordination with the Production Manager. To be successful in this position, you must provide outstanding service and have a discerning ear to identify what sounds good. Outstanding candidates are knowledgeable about the setup and maintenance of audio equipment, able to follow written and verbal instructions, and consistently deliver superb results.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Builds solid, professional relationships with artists and clients. Provides immediate, friendly, and personalized service to enhance their experience.
  2. Communicates with artists, clients and other staff members to ensure deadlines are met and projects are completed to specifications.
  3. Sets up equipment safely and on time.
  4. Tests and troubleshoots equipment regularly; replaces faulty components as needed.
  5. Fixes and enhances sound at live events.
  6. Stays up-to-date on advancements in the field through networking with others in the industry.
  7. Demonstrates knowledge of different mixing consoles (Digico, Midas, Behringer, Allen & Heath, etc.)
  8. Able to operate in a variety of roles (Front of House, monitors, etc.)
  9. Moves with a sense of urgency.
  10. Adheres to all company policies and procedures as established in the Staff Handbook.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Experience Required:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent, preferred
  • 3-years of experience as audio engineer
  • Must pass a criminal background check

Skills and Knowledge Required

  2. Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  3. Excellent service orientation.
  4. Excellent interpersonal skills and focus on serving others.
  5. Proficiency in gain staging, routing, and audio software.
  6. Basic knowledge of lighting consoles.
  7. Good written and verbal communication skills.
  8. Good command of the English language.
  9. Ability to listen to and understand requests.
  10. Ability to remain calm when working under pressure.
  11. Good judgment and decision-making skills.
  12. Reliable, responsible, and dependable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, high energy, and physically demanding environment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and reach for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to push, pull and lift objects from a lower to higher position or move objects horizontally, from position to position.
  • Must be able to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing or crouching in narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
  • Must be able to carry loads greater than 35 pounds and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Will be required to use physical capabilities including climbing and ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and ramps.
  • Able to hear sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Able to work in environment with moderate to high noise levels.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Able to work varied shifts, including evenings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.
